Few painters can give us so glossy and accurate a mirror image of high society as Impressionist master James Tissot (1836 - 1902). Like his friend and contemporary Whistler, he was at home both in Paris, where he lived and exhibited in the 1860s, and in London, where he spent a successful decade after the fall of the Paris Commune in 1871. And like the well heeled cosmopolitan society he frequented, Tissot's art belongs to an international milieu of high fashion on both sides of the English channel. His ladies pose in costumes and amid decor that always reflects the latest fashion, and they indulge with their gentlemen companions in the pleasurable rituals of the finest in country living, the boating party, or the ballroom. One recalls that Tissot's parents were both in the fashion business in his native France.

The images on the CD are in jpg format. The average image is approximately 3000 X 2100 pixels and 1.3 megabytes, some are smaller and some are larger, but this is an average. They have been extensively photo-edited to optimize color and contrast levels, hue and saturation and to bring out their brilliance and clarity. They can easily be printed out to a size 24" X 30" poster or print without distortion.

If you would rather not wait for postal delivery, you can receive these images in a download file. You can receive them as a compressed ZIP file in which you download the ZIP file and use WinZip on your computer to extract the files. If you do not have WinZip you can receive them as a self-extracting executable (EXE) file. In this case after you download the EXE file to your computer, just double-click on it and then extract the images to the folder of your choice. Whether you get them as a ZIP or EXE, they contain the exact same images as the CD's. If you request to receive them as a download file then we will send a download link otherwise they will be shipped in the mail.
