(July 1797 - October 12, 1858) Hiroshige was a Japanese artist and one of the last great artists in the woodblock tradition.
Legend has it that Hiroshige determined to become an artist when he saw and was mesmerized by the prints of his near-contemporary Hokusai and his paintings of Mount Fuji.
