Albert Bierstadt was a German-American painter best known for his large, expansive landscapes of the American West, especially in California. In obtaining the subject matter for these works, Bierstadt joined several journeys of the westward expansion. Though not the first artist to record these sites, Bierstadt was the foremost painter of these scenes for the remainder of the 19th century. His paintings were so finely detailed they look like photographs!
Bierstadt was part of the Hudson River School, not an institution but rather an informal group of like-minded painters. The Hudson River School style involved carefully detailed paintings with romantic, almost glowing lighting, sometimes called luminism.

The images on the CD are in jpg format. The average image is approximately 3000 X 2000 pixels and 1.5 megabytes, some are smaller and some are larger, but this is an average. They have been extensively photo-edited to optimize color and contrast levels, hue and saturation and to bring out their brilliance and clarity. They can easily be printed out to a size 24" X 30" poster or print without distortion.

If you would rather not wait for postal delivery, you can receive these images in a download file. You can receive them as a compressed ZIP file in which you download the ZIP file and use WinZip on your computer to extract the files. If you do not have WinZip you can receive them as a self-extracting executable (EXE) file. In this case after you download the EXE file to your computer, just double-click on it and then extract the images to the folder of your choice. Whether you get them as a ZIP or EXE, they contain the exact same images as the CD's. If you request to receive them as a download file then we will send a download link otherwise they will be shipped in the mail.
