Art Nouveau
Art Nouveau was a concerted attempt to create an international style based on decoration. It was developed by a brilliant and energetic generation of artists who sought to fashion an art form appropriate to the modern age.

Pointillism
This new technical style came about with the Neo-Impressionist group in France, around the 1880’s. The Impressionist attention to light and the pale, bright palette is very evident in these works. Georges Seurat was the first painter to popularize the idea that dots of colors placed next to each became one cohesive color when viewed from a small distance. The revelation that the human eye was capable of ‘creating’ the third, visible color was considered revolutionary.
